Muslims in the communities of New Hyde Park and surrounding areas were holding Jumu’ah prayers at different locations for a few years before 2000. We started daily prayers, Jumu’ah and children classes in the basement of Arshy Grocery on Hillside Ave between 259 St. and 260 St. This grocery was owned by Br. Khawza Naeem.   Both Br. Khawza Naeem and Br. Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan helped organize the community. All activities continued at Arshy Grocery for almost a year until the children's classes and Jumu’ah prayers were moved to Elk’s Lodge in 2002.
